[image-1]Acoustic singer/guitarist Rene Russell — popular purveyor of sandy rock/pop/folk tunes — performs 11 Center Street’s final evening in business on Sat. Jan. 12. 11 Center Street (11 Center St., Folly Beach, (843) 588-9898) featured gourmet seafood, chops, tapas, specialty salads, desserts, and fine wine and beer. They booked acoustic acts a few times a month, and added a nice dash of elegance to the most touristy block on the island. The swank Folly Beach restaurant and wine shop will close the food service this weekend, although the wine shop will stay open through the end of January. Another local seafood restaurant franchise plans to re-open it under a new name this winter.

“Apparently, the Charleston Crab House has bought them and will be remodeling to open in March as a restaurant called ‘The Conch,’” she says. “They will also be having music four or five nights a week, so maybe I will see you there this summer!” The Crab House folks confirm that they’ll be open at 11 Center St. soon, but don’t have a solid “grand opening” date quite yet. Stay tuned.
