BURNING FOR YOU
Beaufort-based nü-metal band Souls Harbor celebrate the release of a major label debut this month. Their new disc, Burning Souls (Crash Music), hits the stores with a bang on July 25. They’re set to play a few CD release shows in the area, including a live set and video shoot at Monkey Business (formerly known as The Social) in Hilton Head (25 Park Plaza) on Thurs. FIREWORK: ABLAZE
Local post-punk/indie-rock trio Firework Show took the summer season off but are ready to blast forth. They recently won first place at College of Charleston’s fourth annual “Charleston Battle of the Bands Competition” at the Music Farm. “We’ve been on sort of a summer hiatus, seeing as how [bassist] Sean Robinson has been in Italy for the past month studying abroad,” says guitarist Zach Bodtorf. “We have been piecing together the album in between jobs, in our free time, which should be finished up before the end of the year.” Their next gig is with Leslie and The Explorers Club at the Music Farm on Sat. Last week, local singer and string player Hugh Price (of local combo Triple Lindy) kicked off a weekly residency at the Banana Cabana, located at 1130 Ocean Blvd. on the IOP. “This is one of my favorite places to play every year,” he reports. “This year, I’ll be there on Mondays from 6-10 p.m. through Aug. 14. After strong storms swept the area on Sun. July 16, local rock station The Bridge at 105.5 suffered a blow — or, as jock and assistant program director Morgan put it, “Yet another piece of equipment decided to take a dump, so again, the Bridge was temporarily off the air.” Dang. —TBL
