I had posted yesterday on the Gay Charleston blog about a new study that suggests that gay people smoke more than straight people. I reader commented that he/she had went out to dinner July 1 and was told that the smoking ban was under way. Not so, says city officials. The first day of the ban will be July 23. Though the city has plans to better educate restaurant and bar owners about the ban, those plans were delayed after the sofa store fire. But I’ve been told they will be getting the word out before the 23rd.
