[image-1]In our story this week on the smoking ban, I offer up my suggestion for what to do with all of those lonely ashtrays to be abandoned once the smoking ban goes begins Monday, July 23.

The one question that remains unanswered: What to do with the ashtrays? I’ve got two words for you: public art.

Turns out that the folks at Fresh Air Everywhere! (they’re exclamation, not mine) were thinking ahead. They’re hosting an event to celebrate the smoking ban at 10 a.m. Monday at Washington Square. The group is inviting businesses to come and recycle their ashtrays. The first 10 businesses to show up will get a Smokers’ Outpost for outdoor cigarette disposal.
