Veteran American folk singer Joan Baez — an artist known for her political activism, pacifism, and work for the environmental and human rights movements — brings her current band to Charleston this spring. They recently confirmed a show at the Charleston Music Hall for Sun. April 6 at 8 p.m.

Baez is best known for such songs as “There But for Fortune” and “Diamonds & Rust,” and renditions of “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” and “We Shall Overcome.” In Feb. 2007 she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award by NARAS. Tickets are available for $45 (plus fees) from Etix, Cat’s Music, Millennium Music, or at the box office (843) 853-2252).
