They say that marijuana is a “gateway” drug to a life of crime. Now, it appears the law against marijuana and the slow wheels of bureaucracy takes someone down a similar path.

YORK — A man told police he robbed a clothing store at knifepoint Monday morning because he needed money to pay a marijuana fine, police said.

If convicted of the robbery, he could spend up to 35 years in prison. …
