Mayor Joe Riley is going to be speaking to nightly news viewers (personally, that’s my hour with Judge Judy, but I’m willing to make an exception tonight) to talk about the Sofa Super Store fire and update folks on the happening regarding department reforms.

Unfortunately, he told the Post and Courier that he may not get around to addressing what everyone really wants to talk about — his tussle with City Council members over their role in fixing the department.

Councilman Jimmy Gallant angrily stormed out of a meeting he called for on Monday after Riley told him it was illegal. The mayor then went on to admonish Gallant for playing politics with the fire and jeopardizing the city’s search for the best new chief.
