Earlier this year, Upstate writers and filmmakers teamed up for the Expecting Goodness Short Film Festival, and now organizers are working to spread the goodness across the state. The Hub City Writers Project and its sister organization HUB-BUB are the brains behind the project, which invites filmmakers to create a short film based on a short story from their book Expecting Goodness.
The second fest is scheduled to launch in September and wrap up in March 2013. For now, they’re inviting S.C.-based writers who’ve published short fiction (4,000 words or less) in a journal or magazine (print or online) between Jan. 1, 2011 and Aug. 1, 2012 to submit their works to firstname.lastname@example.org by Sept. 7. Self-published works aren’t eligible.
Then filmmakers will select a story to inspire a short film, which will be presented at next year’s festival. The website expectinggoodness.com is still in the works, but keep an eye on the Twitter account (@expectgoodness) for all the latest.
