Just received an update from Chip Roberts of RPM Holdings who tells us this deal has not yet closed and the press release announcing the deal was sent out prematurely. According to Roberts, the lawyers have not yet set a closing date and he and his partners still very much own and operate Rita’s. “I was in there last night eating dinner,” he says.

So, for now, Rita’s is the same as it always was. We’ll update you when and if the pending deal finalizes.

The Halls, of upscale steakhouse Halls Chophouse fame, have made an interesting move, purchasing Rita’s on Folly Beach from RPM Holdings, the group behind Kickin’ Chicken.

In a press release, Bill Hall said not much will change at Rita’s. They’ll keep the same management and employees, but they’ll be adding breakfast and stay open past 10 p.m.

And don’t expect to see any of the Halls out there on Folly working the Rita’s dining room. They have every intention of staying put on King Street.
