As part of last night’s inaugural Texas A&M-South Carolina SEC rivalry game, Govs. Rick Perry and Nikki Haley agreed to exchange a bronze statue commissioned by Perry of James Butler Bonham, a S.C. native who was a hero at the Alamo. Needless to say, the Aggies will take the statue back home this week. [The State]

Meanwhile, Ravenel says that there’s nothing in FEC regulations that prohibit him from being paid to participate in the filming of “Southern Charm” over the course of his campaign. [P&C]

Haley and her Democratic opponent Vincent Sheheen traded barbs this week as November’s general election contest starts to heat up. A right-leaning poll out this week shows Haley up to a 15-point lead over Sheheen, 56-31 percent, respectively. [The State]

Turns out that Anthony Johnson’s withdrawal from the search for CofC’s next basketball coach stemmed from a 2011 domestic dispute that landed him in a Cobb County, Georgia, jail for 19 days. Johnson pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct charge over the incident. [P&C]

Charleston’s ‘Burrito Gateway’ will likely be complete by the end of the year, Chipotle officials say. [P&C]
