The Craft Beer All Star Showdown lets City Paper readers choose between two Charleston beers in our weeklong showdown. Check out the full bracket below. We’re on to round two today in Hoppy Beers. Today’s second match-up is Coast’s HopArt vs. Revelry’s Funkmaster Brett Voting for this match-up ends at 9 p.m. TODAY.

HopArt by COAST
American IPA, 7.7% ABV

Like your IPA with a touch of fruit? Then COAST’s HopArt is the ticket. The mauve-hued pour gives off sweet flavors of grapefruit and orange peel with a touch of melon in there too. The hop flavor — a combination of Cascade and Mt. Hood hops — is more subtle. The essence of pine emerges at the end. And there’s balanced bitterness, so that’s a plus.

Funkmaster Brett & The Furious Hops by Revelry
American IPA, 7% ABV

Revelry’s Funkmaster Brett & The Furious Hops has fans calling it “so funkin good.” The reason? It’s a smooth brew with a slightly bitter finish. It’s a 100 percent Brett IPA, meaning it’s fermented with Brettanomyces, a wild, non-spore forming yeast. This yeast makes beer funky — thus the name and the resulting fruit flavors of pineapple and lychee.
