Formerly known as Bike Month, Charleston Moves’ Mobility Month is an annual month-long celebration dedicated to promoting the safety and community of complete streets that are designed to enable safe access for all users, whether they walk, bike, ride, or drive.
The celebration will run from Thurs. May 2 to Fri. May 31, with special events multiple times a week, including the Ride of Silence, Bike to Work Day, an informative lecture series, and more.

A new 3-part lecture series focusing on the past, present, and future of Charleston transportation will take place over the course of the month, led by insightful community leaders, including Dot Scott of the Charleston Branch NAACP, Melissa Maddox-Evans of the City of Charleston’s Housing Authority, Vince Graham of Loci, and much more.

Ride of Silence
6 to 9 p.m.
Lowcountry Food Bank (2864 Azalea Dr.)
Ride of Silence will be a police-escorted ride over the North Bridge that links West Ashley and North Charleston, and will be in remembrance of the community member who lost their life while riding over the bridge in the summer of 2018. The Ride will show support for the retrofitting, allowing safe access for all users.

Bike to Work Day

Bike to Work Day will also be police-escorted commute over the Legare and Memorial Bridges, showing support for the proposal to build a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge from the West Ashley Greenway to downtown.

Battery2Beach is a Charleston Moves’ proposed route network, providing 32 miles of mixed-use paths, and connecting five municipalities and three beaches. The B2B ride will cover the progress of Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms.
