COVID-19 updates: South Carolina health officials reported 525 cases of coronavirus on Monday, with seven additional confirmed deaths.
With 5,357 tests collected, the percent-positive rate was 9.8 percent.
As of 5:25 p.m. Sept. 14, via S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control:
Confirmed cases in S.C.: 130,256 (+525 new cases since Sunday)
Percent Positive: 9.8% (up from 9.4%)
Positive tests in Charleston County (total): 14,965 (+23)
Negative tests in S.C.: 977,377
Deaths in S.C. from COVID-19: 2,922 (+24)

South Carolina Lt. Gov. Pam Evette has COVID-19. The state’s second-in-command said on Twitter that she began feeling “unwell” last Thursday and a test confirmed Saturday that she had COVID-19. Source: Twitter
Charleston Councilman Harry Griffin said he won’t seek reelection next year. The first-term councilman has been the most critical voice on council, especially since the May protests and riots. “I am not going to be remembered in history with this regime,” Griffin said in a Facebook video over the weekend.
