Off Track Ice Cream and The Harbinger have teamed up to create Vegan Jam Sesh ice cream, a flavor inspired by The Harbinger’s popular Jam Sesh bar, made with tahini, sweet potato, chocolate chunks and berry compote. Off Track will unveil the new flavor at its Beaufain Street shop Thursday.
“The Harb team has an ongoing love affair with Off Track, and we update each other daily on what ice cream flavor we’ve all recently had,” said Greer Gilchrist, who owns The Harbinger with Cameron Neal. “Everything is better with ice cream and Off Track is the talk of our kitchen. We started joking that we should have Off Track make us personalized ice cream and then realized that, wait a minute, maybe we could actually do that … but in collaboration form!”
Gilchrist and Neal connected with Off Track co-founders Alissa and Marc Zera to figure out how to turn this beloved Harbinger treat into an ice cream flavor.
“To start, we created a tahini and sweet potato vegan ice cream base. We roast sweet potatoes in the oven until they ooze that amazing caramel-like glaze,” Alissa said. “Greer recommended that we put them in the oven and literally forget about them, and when Greer gives baking tips, we take notes.”

Zera said the roasted sweet potatoes and tahini combination then gets blended into their vegan ice cream base of coconut cream, house-made oat milk and coconut sugar. The toppings, a combination of house-made strawberry jam and chocolate chips, are folded into the ice cream.
“We are so excited to bring you this killer collab,” said Zera. “Huge thanks to The Harbinger for the origination, ideation, inspiration and support.”
“It feels very special to work with Alissa and Marc,” Gilchrist said. “Our business ethos align a lot so the pairing seemed very natural. What feels the best is thinking about all the die hard Jam Sesh lovers out there and getting to reveal to them their favorite dessert is now an ice cream at the greatest ice cream shop in the world.” Gilchrist and Neal also co-own Harken on Queen Street.
