Avondale brewery Charles Towne Fermentory is participating in a nationwide program giving back to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. All of the proceeds from its limited edition Rising Hope IPA will be donated to Brewing Funds the Cure, an initiative designed to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research and treatments.
Originating in Tampa, Florida, Brewing Funds the Cure began when two Florida breweries, Cigar City Brewing and Brew Bus Brewing, teamed up to help raise awareness for the need for more pediatric cancer research. In 2017, they brewed the Rising Hope IPA and in that year alone they raised over $30,000 for research.
“We just brewed it the other day. We adjusted the fruit that’s going into it and the hops slightly to be more in line with the beer our customers would expect from us,” said Charles Towne Fermentory founder and head brewer Adam Goodwin.
Charles Towne Fermentory is representing South Carolina in the program, which invites brewmasters to put their spin on the Rising Hope recipe.
The 6.5% ABV Rising Hope hazy IPA will be canned and available for pick-up at the brewery before the end of October, Goodwin said.
“We’ve always had community and charity at the center of what we do, so for us to be able to contribute to this cause is special,” Goodwin said. “We feel honored to contribute whatever we can.”
