High Water Festival will not return in 2021, representatives announced on Instagram Friday. The favorite festival, created and curated by Shovels & Rope, will return in April 2022 to Riverfront Park.

“We wouldn’t be able to deliver the festival experience you know and love this April, so we are going to focus all our efforts on preparing for next year,” the festival’s account wrote on social media. “We are excited to start sharing plans for next year, so stay tuned.”

High Water’s cancellation amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 was one of the biggest early blows to the local scene.

High Water has garnered national attention in the last few years, and 2020’s festival was set to bring out major talent like Wilco, Leon Bridges and Brittany Howard.
