Charleston’s own Kardea Brown will join celebrity chefs Nancy Fuller and Duff Goldman as a judge on season seven of Food Network’s Spring Baking Championship, a competitive baking show featuring 11 bakers who will cook spring-themed desserts for a chance to win $25,000. The two-hour season premiere will air Monday, Feb. 22 at 9 p.m.
Brown recently completed season four of Delicious Miss Brown, a Food Network show that first aired in July 2019. During the show, Brown shares cherished family recipes and Southern traditions, hosting friends for dinner at her Edisto Island home.
Season seven of Spring Baking Championship takes place in a tent similar to the one used on the hit BBC import, The Great British Baking Show. Brown joined Fuller, Goldman and 11 bakers in California to film the 10-episode series shortly after finishing filming season three of Delicious Miss Brown, she told the City Paper.

“I was really excited about it because I’m really good friends with Nancy Fuller,” she said. “Once we all got together, we completely meshed, blended and worked well together.”
Brown couldn’t reveal too many details about the show, but she commended the Food Network for its safety precautions and was impressed with the talented bakers competing for the grand prize.
“Of course with COVID to protect everyone we filmed the show at a beautiful resort and did the tent to give everyone some more space. It does have that British bake off flair to it,” she said. “Some of these things that they make, it would take a skilled baker days to make, and just to see it was amazing.”
Brown could not confirm that a fifth season of Delicious Miss Brown was in the works, but she did say, “The viewers will see more of Delicious Miss Brown.”
