She Tris

Registration is now open for an women’s triathlon series, the She Tris Sprint Triathlon, as they return to hosting in-person events after being forced to “pivot” last year as an entire season of triathlon events were converted to virtual challenges and races.

The all-women triathlon series kicks off May 23 with a new venue host at the Hobcaw Yacht Club, now that vaccinations are taking place around the Lowcountry, helping race directors and owners to feel optimistic about in-person events this year.

“It may look a little different than our events in the past, but we feel confident that we have the right tools, knowledge, and partnerships to safely execute quality events for women in our community,” said She Tris founder Angi Klick.

Virtual options will still be available for all She Tris events in 2021, for those still unsure about participating in person, giving everyone a chance to join in the event, no matter where they are.

She Tris events are held over beginner friendly distances; triathletes will swim about 200 yards, bike 8-9 miles and run 2-3 miles, with exact distances depending on the venue.

After the season kickoff at Hobcaw Yacht Club, the series will continue in the Hamlin neighborhood of Mount Pleasant Aug. 21, and an all-virtual event is also scheduled for June. The season closes September 26 at Carnes Crossroads, a neighborhood in Summerville. The closer will also include its annual She Tris Girl event with very short distances for girls ages 5 and up.

Registration for virtual and in-person events is now open at shetris.com.
