Charleston Wine + Food Festival is teaming up with local restaurants to host four upcoming hybrid events that are designed to engage the Holy City’s culinary community during a year when the annual five-day event was canceled due to COVID-19.

May 25 is the last day to participate in W+F’s #TakeoutTuesdayCHS campaign, and this summer, the festival will host a takeout dinner for food and beverage employees, Pride Month cocktail collaboration and signature dinner, a W+F spokesperson said.

“In lieu of the 2021 festival, which was cancelled due to COVID-19, we wanted to create opportunities to uplift our local culinary and hospitality community and engage with our followers,” said W+F marketing and communications director Alyssa Maute Smith. “In conjunction with several partners, we have been able to bring to life virtual and hybrid event experiences with a Charleston Wine + Food spin.”

Here’s how #TakeoutTuesdayCHS works: On Tuesday, May 25, order takeout from the featured restaurant — this Tuesday’s is the Obstinate Daughter — and then post a picture of your food on Instagram. If you tag @chswineandfood, @acquapannausa and #TakeoutTuesdayCHS, you will be entered into a drawing to win a $500 gift card to the featured restaurant and two tickets to the 2022 Charleston Wine + Food Festival.

Continuing with the takeout theme next month, local F&B employees will be able to order a complimentary takeout meal that feeds 4-6 people from Mex 1 Coastal Cantina June 7-9.

Throughout the month of June, W+F will be hosting a “Cocktails to Be Proud Of” campaign with five local restaurants — Indaco, The Royal American, Uptown Social, Edmund’s Oast and Butcher & Bee. Look for “specialty cocktails created with the celebration of Pride in mind” at each of the restaurants throughout the month, and W+F will be donating $1 to the Alliance for Full Acceptance for each Instagram story folks share throughout the month.

And last but not least, stay tuned for more details about W+F’s “Not So Signature Dinner” at Chubby Fish, where executive chef James London will collaborate with San Francisco-based chef Mellissa Perello (Octavia) to curate a multi-course meal as a take on the signature dinner event at the festival each year.

W+F is partnering with S. Pellegrino, Tito’s Vodka, US Foods and AquaPanna to put on the events. For more information, visit charlestonwineandfood.com
