What you need to know: South Carolina ranks in the bottom 10 among states in adult vaccination rates, with fewer than 50% of people 18 and over in the Palmetto State have gotten their first shots, according to CDC data.

Jane Kelly, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) assistant state epidemiologist, said last Friday that DHEC’s mass vaccination saw one of its busiest days so far, pointing to steady progress despite the current low rate.
