What to know today: South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) announced yesterday that the state is not on track to reach Biden’s vaccination goal unless efforts are ramped up. Biden told the American people Tuesday that his administration aims to have 70% of the population at least partially vaccinated by July 4. But, according to DHEC’s numbers, South Carolina will fall below that percentage if the current vaccination rate continues.
Assistant state epidemiologist Jane Kelly expressed hope that DHEC’s initiative to expand vaccine availability and outreach in rural areas with lower vaccination rates can bring the state closer to where the president hopes to see the entire country. Source: WBTW
