[embed-1] There’s coffee, and then there’s competition-level coffee. Watch nimble fingered baristas turn milk and espresso into works of art, taste a variety of roasts from local and regional companies, and snack on brunch items at the 5th annual Charleston Coffee Cup next. Sun. Oct. 28 at Memminger Auditorium.

Doors open at 10 a.m., and latte art signup takes place between 10 and 10:55 a.m. The latte art competition begins promptly at 11:15 a.m. and the winner takes home a $500 cash prize. Roasters will compete for best coffee — last year Charleston’s very own Springbok took home top honors, and Augusta, Ga.’s Buona Caffe took home people’s choice.

If you can’t make a strong cuppa and your dairy frothing skills are sub par, be sure to compete in a contest anyone could win — a costume contest. In the spirit of almost being Halloween, attendees are invited to dress up in their “Best Caffeinated Costume” with the hopes of being crowned the buzziest of them all.

There will be demos throughout the day about various coffee related topics, like different brewing methods and the process that brings coffee from the ground to your kitchen or local coffee hub. There will also be local craft vendors and eats like BKeD Shop donuts and vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free bites from With These Hands Foods.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 day-of, with discounts for students, military, and seniors. Purchase tickets online; all tickets include unlimited coffee tastings and a complimentary mug.
