[image-1] To honor those lost in the shooting at the Charleston Emanuel AME church last week, many businesses in the area are either raising money to help the victims, or offering up alternative services to encourage healing.
Among those businesses is 843 Productions, located above Silver Dollar at 478 King St., unit 3. To help the cause, they have ordered 300-400 rubber cause unity bracelets which they are planning to sell at $3-$4 apiece. The blue of the bands was inspired by the South Carolina flag, and wrapping around them will read, “We Are Charleston #Charlestonstrong,” and the “843” part of their logo to represent the Charleston community. All proceeds will go towards the Emanuel AME Hope fund. To order, give them a call at (843) 670-9918. The bands can be picked up either at their King Street office or from an employee of the company who will likely be sent out to sell them around King.
Additionally, Blu Gorilla Tattoo, located at 1049 King St. closed their shop to the public on June 24 to offer free memorial flash tattoos for the family and friends of the victims lost. The flash tattoos included several options — some depicted the Charleston Emanuel AME church, others with Christian crosses, and still others with the names of the victims.
Palmetto Moon has already sold out of their Charleston Strong t-shirts — each shirt is $10 and 100 percent of the proceeds are donated to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund — and they have ordered more to meet demand. So far the company has pledged $35,000 to the Hope Fund. Check online or in stores for the next shipment of shirts.
