Last night, between the opening of The Burial at Thebes and a party, we went to Mistral to check out Piccolo Spoleto’s jazz series, organized by the newly formed Jazz Artists of Charleston. Jazz and Mistral go hand and hand — a classy kind of music for a classy kind of joint. My wife drank a deep-red wine while I indulged in some Pernod, which was served in a tall glass with a tumbler of ice and a cordial bottle full of cold water. Like I said, a classy place. The group was College of Jazz. It was a pleasant hour spent relaxing and taking in a few grooves. You might try it yourself. (Sorry about the picture being fuzzy. I don’t claim any expertise in photography.)
