Through some pretty cool family connections, A Fragile Tomorrow recently teamed up with ’60s folk legend Joan Baez on the band’s upcoming release.

“Her sister Mimi was married to our cousin Richard Farina, and in the ’60s they were super famous, put out a bunch of records on Vanguard, and were in all those circles,” drummer Dominic Kelly tells us. “Richard died in ‘66 and Mimi died in ‘01, but they have a really lasting legacy.”

Kelly says Farina was also besties with Bob Dylan and even wrote a bunch of songs for him. The song Baez and A Fragile Tomorrow recorded together is sentimental since it was written by the Farinas themselves.

The track also features longtime friends from the Indigo Girls, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, on madnolin and banjo, and a mini documentary is in progress about the story behind the song.

The album’s release date is yet to be determined.
