[image-1] How do you solve a problem like Maria? With a kickass musical, of course. A new production of The Sound of Music makes its Lowcountry premiere next March 12 and 13 at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Part of the Best of Broadway series, tickets for the Sound of Music go on sale Mon. Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. with prices starting at $35.
The Sound of Music features music by Richard Rogers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. If you’ve only ever seen the movie version of this classic musical, you’ll want to up the ante with the live production which features the Tony, Grammy, and Academy Award winning Best Score with songs like “My Favorite Things,” “Sixteen Going On Seventeen,” “Do-Re-Mi,” and more.
Fun fact: The Sound of Music was originally a Broadway show; it’s probably best known for its film, though, since the flick is the third highest grossing film of all time in North America. As Ted Chapin, president of Rogers & Hammerstein says, “It’s like visiting an old friend but finding yourself surprised as well. It’s also a reminder of why this show is such an evergreen.”
