The American College of the Building Arts hosted its third annual Red Party at the Old City Jail Thursday, and it was an affair not to be missed. Men on stilts and ladies in flapper dresses reigned the night, as dictated by the 1920s circus theme. Everyone was in a pre-Halloween festive mood and dressed to the nines — I had to ask several party-goers to remove their masks, as I did not know who I was speaking to.

Attendees sipped on libations from the Cocktail Club and noshed on nibbles from Oak Steakhouse and Patat Spot (though I could not find the frites and almost stole a few from a fellow guest). Twenty-one Magazine Street was truly taken back in time to a Vaudeville era where freaks and burlesque ladies mingled and danced the night away, although the music was a bit updated. Who really knows how to dance the Charleston anyhow?
