After months of working to build, equip, and record in a new home studio, songwriter Joel T. Hamilton finally mixed and mastered a collection of new songs. 1c5a/1240002841-workingtitle.boneisland.jpg

Released under the band name The Working Title, the 13-song Bone Island is due on May 9. As the band’s longtime singer/guitarist and main songwriter, Hamilton’s been there from the earliest days of 2001. In 2005, the group released its major label debut, About Face (Universal/Motown), featuring the single “The Mary Getaway (I Lost Everything).”

As The Working Title drifted away from the record label situation, Hamilton’s bandmates aimed in various directions, and split the band amicably. With Hamilton at the helm, The Working Title evolved into a looser configuration, with him handling most of the instruments and singing, along with a few special guests. With a full-band sound loaded with plenty of noisy keyboards and vintage instruments, Bone Island follows his recently-released lo-fi/exotic solo album Officina. Jake Sinclair (of Charleston/N.Y.C. band The Films) played bass and helped produce the songs.

Look for The Working Title’s CD release gig at the Music Farm on Sat. May 9 with support from Cary Ann Hearst and All Get Out.
