Alton Brown, Food Network darling and the man who gave us “Analog Tweets,” stopped by Bar Normandy Saturday night.

The play-by-play announcer of Iron Chef and host of Cutthroat Kitchen, showed up in a selfie on Bar Normandy Chef Alex Lira’s Instagram account Saturday with the caption: “That time @altonbrown came into @barnormandy19 ate, drank, and let me take a selfie. Super cool dude!”

Doing him one better, Brown ‘grammed a dish from the restaurant — “Charred broccoli with grapefruit and pecans @barnormandy19 #charlestonsc #genius” — which had a cool 2,615 likes when we last checked at 7:45 p.m.

Brown’s no stranger to Charleston. The food science savant has made frequent visits to the Holy City on tours. In fact, he kicked off his last tour, “Alton Brown Live: Eat Your Science,” here in March 2016. CP writer Jessie Hazard caught up with him and Brown revealed his fondness for the city.

“I adore Charleston,” Brown said. “So if I’m going to mount a show and be someplace for the better part of a week, I want it to be in a city that I love. I’ve often thought about moving to Charleston at some point in my life. But I haven’t gotten to spend much time there in the past three years, so for me it’s a wonderful opportunity to get to know the city again in what little spare time I have. Starting there was completely on purpose.”

We’re told Brown stopped at Leon’s on Friday as well. Stay tuned to Brown’s Instagram to see if he makes other stops in the city.  [embed-1]
