State health officials reported 2,055 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 deaths, the same day it was announced Gov. Henry McMaster tested positive for the virus.

Out of 11,356 new tests reported, 18.1% were positive. In total, 257,340 people in South Carolina have tested positive for COVID-19, and 4,602 have died from it.

According to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, 19,644 doses of the novel coronavirus vaccine have been administered as of today. Individuals who received the first dose of the vaccine will get the required second dose 21 days following the first shot.

Walgreens and CVS will begin vaccinating residents of long-term care facilities the week of Dec. 28. DHEC was told skilled nursing homes will be the first facilities to receive the vaccine, according to a press release.
