The Guerrilla Cuisine guys were pretty stoked with how their debut series of dinners went last month. For an underground event, the City Paper covered it pretty extensively. (See stories here, here, and here). But can you really blame us? The idea is cool — big name chefs, cooking you dinner in a non-restaurant location surrounded by fresh art, live music, and interesting people. Not to mention serving you multiple courses of kick-ass food.
Sean Brock proved to be a passionate host, and organizers Kenny Lowe and the mysterious jimihatt were friendly and hospitable. The setting was pretty sweet too — in Irvin-House Vineyards’ rustic pavilion that felt as if you were eating in a barn. Roaming dogs and an outdoor bathroom kept it from feeling the least bit pretentious.
If you missed the first round of dinners, they’re doing it again on Sunday, December 16. The details are sketchy — somewhere in West Ashley where you need to supply your own cushions.
Hmmm…. The guessing game is half the fun.
