Pop-up gallery Art for Charity is nearing the end of its run, but they’re not closing their doors without hosting one more charity event. On June 11, the gallery (at 438 King St.) hosts a closing reception to benefit the South Carolina Aquarium. Musical entertainment features a jazz collaborative from Brian Widlowski, Amanda Wansa, and John Kennedy, and hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Halls Chophouse. The reception is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. There is a suggested donation of at least $10 at the door, but they won’t hold it against you if you decided to contribute more than that.
The gallery is the brainchild of interior designer Michael Mitchell, who wanted to feature some of S.C.’s brightest artists. Marty Biernbaum, Deanna Bowdish, Terry Brennan, Joe Byrne, and John K. Crum are among the 27 artists on display.
Since March 20, Art for Charity has held several events dedicated to various charities. So far they’ve helped out the Ronald McDonald House, MUSC Children’s Hospital, Charleston Breast Center, MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, the American Red Cross, Roper St. Francis Ryan White Program, and Habitat for Humanity.
