Brie Arthur will host a virtual workshop Saturday

Author, professional grower, gardener and foodscape expert Brie Arthur is teaming up with Rusty Bull Brewing Co. to host a virtual workshop Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The virtual event is being put on by the Charleston Horticulture Society and supports Arthur’s new book Gardening with Grains, where she teaches folks how to grow six key grains in their home gardens.

Workshop attendees will first learn about growing the grains that get brewed into beer with Rusty Bull co-owner Brian Bogstad. After that, Arthur will discuss the use of grains during the brewing process before doing a live grain planting demonstration.

“There was a workshop we were going to do with her back in April, so they decided to take it virtual,” Bogstad said. “We’ll be showcasing three of our beers and will do about a ten minute talk to make people more aware about the process. Brie will also go through a demo on how to grow barley in your own yard.”

The virtual event takes place Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit
