Aspiring professional beach volleyball players should take notice of the Barefoot Wine AVPNext Series. Tournaments for the series took place in Charleston last summer and began again in May. The games in Charleston come to an end Thurs. July 8.
The series holds events at barefoot-friendly volleyball courts in 24 cities across the country and gives amateur beach volleyball players the chance to take on AVP’s professional teams for cash prizes. The best men’s and women’s teams from each market will face off against each other in the championship games in Chicago on Aug. 27, competing for the Barefoot Wine AVPNext Championship Cup. The winning teams of the championship will receive a cash prize of $5,000 and will have the opportunity to play in the AVP Nivea Tour.
The women’s championship game takes place at the Windjammer on the Isle of Palms on Wed. July 7 at 7:15 p.m. There will be two final Thursday games for men on July 1 and July 8. The men’s championship game takes place on Thurs. July 15 at 7:15 p.m.
