[image-1][image-2]O’Day Washington understands Charlestonians’ obsession with brunch. That’s why she started a brunch pop-up series. Each quarter she hosts public brunches featuring pop-up shops, live music, and art. And they’re all themed. The first one was called Grits and Glam. The second Brunchin’ is a Habit. Now she’s prepping for her Aug. 6 Purple Buffalo brunch: Bad & Boozy.
“Usually I do these brunches on a day when there’s nothing else to do,” says O’Day who operates her brunch series through her O’Me O’My Experience business. “I come up with these themes and I work around that.”
For Bad & Boozy, O’Day has lined up vendors like Grease Kelly Vintage (operated by CP columnist Jessie Parks), Jewelz by Jai, Sage Flower Essentials, and Lacy’s Lovely Arrangements. DJ BlackDave will be providing the soundtrack and as for the food, well that’s O’Day’s work.
“I’m a one woman show,” says O’Day who makes all of her brunch meals and learned how to cook from past restaurant experience and “being a mom.” For Bad & Boozy she’s laying out an unlimited burger bar. “We’ll have different types of burgers, beef, turkey, possibly a salmon burger, and toppings out the ying-yang.”
Purple Buffalo will provide the drinks and if the stars align, O’Day might even serve a cocktail collaboration with DJ BLord, the man behind Happy Juice.
“I reached out to S.C. native, DJ BLord. He has summer juice cocktails that are smoothie inspired. We might do a Bad & Boozy signature drink,” says O’Day.
Bad & Boozy will be held Sun. Aug. 6 from 2-8 p.m. — “not too early not to late, go to church praise god then come and hangout with me and network and shop,” says O’Day. Entry is $10 at the door.
