Breakfast and Lunch
Bagel Nation’s bagels are just great, and the sandwich combos offer a variety of options for fattening-but-fun bagel concoctions. From the savory ‘everything’ with onions, garlic, rye, and sesame seeds, to the candy-like ‘Frazzle,’ which is encrusted with coarse sugar and cinnamon, these huge, chewy carb-bombs always satisfy — no matter how far we’ll have to jog to burn them off.

Normandy Farm Artisan Bakery

West Ashley. 32 Windermere Blvd. 769-6400
Open Mon.-Sat.
Normandy Farm is the classic ‘little guy makes it big’ story. Their bakery-and-shop in South Windermere consistently turns out the best bread in town. It’s found its way into the baskets of the loftiest of white tablecloth restaurants, and the super-crusty loaves with their chewy, webbed interiors are unmistakable. There’s pastry and sandwiches too, but that’s sort of beside the point.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Sunday Brunch
Ain’t nothing pretty about Saffron but the food. The hard plastic booths and linoleum flooring are misleading — pay more attention to the huge glass displays of everything from carrot cake to cinnamon rolls. The menu is great for breakfast or lunch, too, with basic egg and bacon or pancake breakfasts, and delicious, Mediterranean-influenced soups and sandwiches for lunch.
