Designer Barbara Beach unveiled her Fall/Winter lookbook this week, with photographs from Jorg Meyer. The children’s line includes Beach’s signature attention to detail, with pretty cloth buttons, Liberty printed linings, scalloped edges, and playful appliques. The new collection features warmer autumnal hues like saffron, gray, and crimson. My personal favorite pieces are the Liberty fur-lined vest, the neck warmers, and the riding fleece. The pieces are available online now, but we just want to know when Beach will start making clothes for grown-ups. Those kids have all the fun.
“Inspiration for this Fall/Winter clothing line came from imagining a child who travels around the world,” Beach says. “I imagined what they might wear on their ship from Spain to Morocco to India and many other destinations. I gathered ideas and fabrics such as Liberty prints and fabric made in India in order to tell the story completely. I am inspired by good quality and look for it in everything, therefore it is important to show this in every aspect of my designs.”
She says her favorite pieces are the apricot coat and the neck warmers. She’ll be adding boys’ T-shirts to the store soon.
