COVID-19 updates: South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced 903 new cases of COVID-19 and 23 deaths connected to the virus on Friday.

With 5,751 tests reported Friday, the percent positive rate was 15.7 percent. Yesterday, the percent postive was 8.1 percent.

As of 2 p.m. Aug. 28, via S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control:

Confirmed cases in S.C.: 114,400 (+903 new cases since Thursday)
Positive tests in Charleston County (total): 13,679 (+112)
Negative tests in S.C.: 835,557
Deaths in S.C. from COVID-19: 2,655 (+25)
