American novelist Ernest Miller Hemingway lived hard and drank harder. While it’s not recommended to booze up at such high pace and volume, it is still somewhat romantic to occasionally step into character and quaff a few fruity cocktails in a Hemingway manner. The One-Eyed Parrot — a great little upstairs spot to be an old man by the sea, located in the Pavilion block of shops on the IOP — offers decent Caribbean and Cuban cuisine, but they specialize in a strong menu of lagers, microbrewed ales, fruity liquor drinks, fresh-squeezed mimosas, spicy Bloody Marys, and wines. Their tacky and fun Key West theme comes with framed posters of Hemingway, stuffed marlins, and ceramic parrots on the wall.
