Folly Beach. 15 Center St. 588-9761
The edge of America may finally be succumbing to the glitz of the Charleston culinary renaissance. After the opening of the little bistro and wine bar at 11 Center Street, the writing was on the wall. Folly Beach, insofar as its food was concerned, was becoming, dare we say it, respectable? Taco Boy sealed the deal, a David Leboutillier special tricked out and spiced up with a little of everything from south of the border. It may not be nearly as authentic, in ambience or cuisine, as the numerous taquerias dotting Johns Island and North Chuck, but for a beachfront taco stand, it’s damn fancy — and serves up a stout margarita to boot.
