Charleston’s sadly lacking a dollar theater, but now there’s an option for those unwilling to drop $30-plus on a date-night at the movies. The Greater Park Circle Film Society formed in North Chuck to educate the public on all aspects of the media arts. Part of the way they do that is by showing films that commercial theaters often bypass — like documentaries, shorts, and independent films. Over the past few months they’ve shown films like Amelie, What Would Jesus Buy?, and The Station Agent, all for $5 for non-members and $2 for members. And these guys don’t shiv you on the popcorn — it’s free.
