On Thursday night (July 2, 5-7:30 p.m.), King Street’s Plum Elements hosts the opening reception and book signing for The Humours of Folly, a coffee table book with images and words inspired by The Edge of America. Photographer Frank Melvin Braden and wordsmith Ellie Maas Davis will be at the event to recognize the book, which pays tribute to the joys of Folly living. The book celebrates the beach both in and out of season, day and night, sunny and stormy. Taking their inspiration from the ancient concept of the four humours (black bile, yellow bile, phlegm, and blood) Braden and Davis bring us a photographic memoir of a Charleston institution.
