Earlier this week, designer Billy Reid was honored with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award. The award, which highlights the year’s most talented American designers, is voted on by industry insiders like Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour, CFDA’s Executive Director Steven Kolb, J. Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyons, and Barneys New York Fashion Director Julie Gilhart. Reid was presented with $300,000, a design collaboration project with J. Crew, and a mentorship with fashion industry leaders.
Alabama-based Reid owns a handful of stores throughout the Southern states, including one on King Street. He designs classic clothing and accessories for men and women.
The Fashion Fund Award, which was co-presented by Karl Lagerfeld and Carey Mulligan, is Reid’s second big win this year. In February, he was named GQ/CFDA’s Best New Menswear Designer America.
