Brown Dog Deli to expand into short-lived Smith Street Pizza location

College kids, there’s about to be another take-out option for those long cram sessions at the library.

Slinging sandwiches, deli favorites, and, of course, hot dogs on Broad Street for almost five years now, Brown Dog Deli is expanding to a second downtown location at 225 Calhoun St. We first noticed the expansion while walking by what used to be Norm’s (RIP) and was most recently Smith Street Pizza. A Brown Dog van was parked outside and employees were inside planning and training.

Brown Dog Deli’s new 225 Calhoun location is projected to open in mid-September, according to front of house manager, Holly Barber. The reason for the opening? “Most of our delivery business is that way,” Barber says.
