Ahh, vacation — a chance to see something different, spend lots of money, and be insulted by waitstaff at overpriced restaurants or exotic boutiques. It’s likely none of these experiences are unique to Charleston, but a recent study by the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and the College of Charleston’s Office of Tourism Analysis has spotlighted them, along with other findings about the area’s visitors. Not surprisingly, they’re here to bask in the historic charm, but have recognized the vices of the peninsula. The survey included 1,242 tourists that requested information about Charleston through the bureau. Two of the questions focused on the things visitors enjoyed most and the things they enjoyed least about Charleston.
