Starting today, Mon. April 15, experimental arts space Tua Lingua (which recently re-opened in its Surrey Drive location) is taking submissions for its upcoming show, Bad Idea. Drop off pieces at Tua Lingua, ones that celebrate the universality of artistic rejection, of course, every Monday, 7:30-9:30 p.m. through May 6.

Here’s the (bad) idea: every piece of art in this new show will have been previously rejected by a gallery, a teacher, a muse, a curator, a jury, etc. Tua Lingua owner Nathan Petro notes that just because you’re submitting your ‘bad idea’ doesn’t mean you’re turning in your worst work of art ever.

This is a traditional group art show — just one that celebrates the commonality of rejection along the way.

All mediums of work will be accepted but they must be ready to hang. Be sure to coordinate drop off dates with Petro through Tua Lingua’s Facebook page. And if you’re in, you’re all in: All participating artists are expected to attend and promote the show.

The Bad Idea Art Show takes place on Fri. May 17 and features all kinds of good ‘bad’ art and live music.
