[image-1]Five months after the sudden closures of Cypress and Artisan Meat Share, Craig Deihl has a new job. The twice-James Beard Award finalist is headed to North Carolina to join Joe and Katy Kindred’s latest project, Hello, Sailor. [content-3]Charlotte Observer‘s Kathleen Purvis had the early word on the move, writing today that Deihl had accepted the chef de cuisine role at the restaurant near Lake Norman. For those not in the N.C. know, the Kindred’s flagship restaurant is Davidson’s Kindred, natch.
According to a press release, Joe and Deihl “became fast friends” years ago when the chef visited Charlotte for an event. “I always have admired and been inspired by his passion and commitment to his craft,” says Joe Kindred. “We were looking for like-minded, strong, creative leaders to join our growing team and Craig, also equally as important his family, were up for a new challenge. We are excited to welcome him to our close-knit community.”
The new restaurant, which is expected to open in December, will offer dockside dining and cocktails “with a vibe inspired by mid-century Palm Springs, complete with outdoor tiki bar on the deck.” Deihl will be serving “modern fish camp” feel food, an obvious departure from he charcuterie-focused past.
