On an entirely unrelated tip, I was checking out the forums at CharlestonFishing.com when I stumbled on this post.

My son and I went to supper on the creek this evening. When we were walking in my two gay friends were walking in also. I introduced my son to them and they invited us to join them for supper, which we did. Afterwards, we were driving home and my son said, “Dad, those guys were as gay as anyone I’ve ever seen, but as nice as anyone I’ve ever met.” I agreed with him and kind of left it at that.

Here is my question — would you have let your kids sit down and eat supper with an openly gay couple, regardless of how nice the are??

I know what you’re thinking — fishing forum? gay table manners?

Responses to the post have been varied, as you can expect, but the general sense is that it’s not a big deal.

I’m really of mixed mind on this one. Props to the dad for not taking issue with his son’s acceptance of this gay couple. But, at the same time, I’m just thankful there is nobody in my life that has to ponder whether I’m an appropriate dinner companion.
