It wasn’t too long ago that Charleston County was getting national attention for the lowest gas prices in the country. The argument was that we were one of the few cities closest to the source. That advantage has disappeared. All the prices in the state are down from record highs earlier this summer, but Charleston’s gas prices have increased more year-to-year than some other areas of the state.

The price for the type of gas you pump has also shifted. Medium grade is now less expensive, but premium gas costs more, in comparison.
