Northern California wildfires have burned more than 183,000 acres, destroyed at least 2,800 homes, and killed more than 30 people in the last six days. Charleston Grill sommelier Rick Rubel said that “these wineries have always stepped up to the plate when we need them, now it’s our turn to pay the love forward.”

For the month of October, Charleston Grill will offer an entirely new wines by the glass menu focused solely on California wines; a portion of proceeds will be donated to the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund and Sonoma County Resilience Fund.

Charleston Grill General Manager Mickey Bakst says that yesterday he and Rubel were looking at New York Times pictures of the devastation. “Rick came up with this idea, we have 1,300 wines [at Charleston Grill]. He said ‘let’s change all of our wines by the glass to just California wines and let’s send money somewhere,'” says Bakst. “And then the thought came to me that the reality is we’ve always called on wineries to help with charitable events. You know every event you’ve ever gone to where wine was poured? That wine was given for free.” Bakst says he’s reaching out to national wine distributors and publications around the country to help support with relief efforts.

There will be 30-35 wines by the glass on the California only list, so that’s about 30 more reasons to go to Charleston Grill. The restaurant is open 5:30 to 10 p.m. daily.
